Our Work

At Spirit Voyage Foundation, our work grows from a simple belief: when people reconnect with the natural world, they begin to care for it.

Through educational retreats, hands-on experiences, and community partnerships, we support projects that protect coastal ecosystems, reduce environmental impact, and inspire people to live in greater harmony with the earth.

Some of these projects are already underway. Others are emerging initiatives that will grow in the years ahead.

Current Project:

Guardians of the Shore: Beach Cleanup

Living on the Caribbean coast has given us a close view of one of the great environmental challenges of our time: plastic pollution.

Ocean currents carry plastic debris from across the world to the shores of the Yucatán Peninsula. Bottles, fishing line, packaging fragments, and tiny plastic pellets known as nurdles wash onto beaches and into mangroves, where they threaten marine life and slowly break down into microplastics.

Our Beach Cleanup Initiative hires local workers and volunteers to walk sections of coastline, collect plastic waste, and remove it from the ecosystem before it can further damage the environment.

Every cleanup removes bags of plastic from the shoreline and helps protect the reef, wildlife, and coastal habitats that make this region so special.
This work is simple, but it is meaningful.
Every piece of plastic removed matters.

Sustainable Living Workshops

Many environmental challenges are connected to everyday consumption.

Through hands-on workshops at Mahai Retreat, we explore simple ways to live with less waste and greater connection to natural resources.

Participants learn how to make natural personal care products, herbal remedies, and household items using simple ingredients that are healthier for both people and the planet.

These workshops show that reducing environmental impact can be creative, empowering, and deeply practical.

Ocean Education & Conservation Retreats

Education is one of the most powerful tools for environmental change.

Spirit Voyage Foundation plans to host retreats that combine wellness, nature immersion, and environmental education. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about ocean ecosystems, coastal conservation challenges, and practical ways to reduce their environmental footprint.

These experiences are designed to inspire people to bring sustainable practices back to their own communities.

Coming Soon

Coral Reef Restoration

Coral reefs are among the most diverse ecosystems on Earth, yet they are rapidly declining due to warming oceans, pollution, and human impact.

In partnership with local marine conservation organizations, we aim to support coral restoration efforts that help rebuild reef habitats along the Caribbean coast.

These projects may include coral nurseries, reef monitoring, and educational opportunities that allow retreat participants to learn directly from marine scientists and restoration teams.
